Killed in action in the crash of "RAIDR 04", Marine KC-130R BuNo QB 160021, while serving with VMGR-352, MAG-11, 3rd MAW, MCAS Miramar, CA. Her crew was returning from a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Jeannette is the namesake for the Sgt Jeanette L. Winters Center for Homeless Female Veterans in Gary, Indiana.

Jeannette is buried in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana.
