Killed in action in the crash of "RAIDR 04", Marine KC-130R BuNo QB 160021, while serving with VMGR-352, MAG-11, 3rd MAW, MCAS Miramar, CA. His crew was returning from a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Daniel is buried at Bush River Memorial Gardens, Lexington County, South Carolina.
