Killed in action in the crash of "RAIDR 04", Marine KC-130R BuNo QB 160021, while serving with VMGR-352, MAG-11, 3rd MAW, MCAS Miramar, CA. His crew was returning from a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Bryan is buried in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Coos Bay, Oregon.
